Events in and around Hoedspruit

Hoedspruit is an amazing little town, full of people who want to make a difference. There is always something going on to promote local initiatives. What better way to get to meet some of the locals than to join in a local community event? You will be more than welcome!

Watch the space below for information on local events that are taking place in the area.

Hoedspruit Farmer's Market

On the first Saturday of every month, the Hoedspruit Farmer's Market is a highlight for locals and visitors alike. Located in the Zandspruit commercial area, about a 20 minute walk, or very short drive from Nkanyi House the market offers a great assortment of locally produced foods and crafts. The nearby Hogfather and Arugula restaruants will be open serving breakfast and lunch, making it the perfect place to spend a morning.

Parkrun- Hoedspruit

Parkrun is a free, open to all, volunteer-based, timed, weekly 5 kilometer run that takes place all over the world. The Hoedspruit Parkrun began in 2017 and happens every Saturday morning at 0700h. It is a run through the bush of the Pro-Track anti-poaching training grounds, just a few kilometers out of town. Just head towards Phalaborwa on the R40 and turn left at the sign for the Thirsty Giraffe Pub, about three kms out of town (just past Tshuduku Game Reserve).

It is a great event for everyone. Walkers are more than welcome. Many families participate every weekend. Children under 11 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. You must register ahead of time, but registration is free. Just visit their website by clicking here. You will be sent a bar code that you can print out, so that you can have your details recorded. However, it is possible to run without the bar code- you will be listed as "unknown" on the results page. The scanner does not read phone screens, so a paper copy is required. You can get it printed at PostNet, at the Pick n Pay mall in Hoedspruit, if needed. If you are already registered with Parkrun in your home country, you do not need to register again. Simply bring your bar code from home.

On the last Friday of the month, local culinary experts and foodies gather to watch the sun go down, eat delicious treats and sip local beverages. Try Hoedspruit's own citrus-based gin, take a bit of a local chef's latest creation and meet the locals. This new event has quickly become a great hit among the locals.
