Although we have visited South Africa many times, this would be the first time visiting the Kruger National Park area. Instead of staying in one of the "hotel rooms" available within one of the many private reserves, we decided for the first time to try out a private home. So glad we did! First of all, the homeowners Annette and Ed are outstanding. They have everything managed to a tee. A big thank you to them both. We were met by the property manager Sue, at the entrance gate. She gave us our keycard and showed us to the house within the reserve, and gave us a tour around the home. The house is just beautiful, as is the Hoedspruit Bush and Aero Estates. The estate subdivision even has a private paved landing strip, just in case you have your own plane and decide to fly in. It is a new build and recently furnished, quite nicely I might add. It is tucked away within a gated community, in safe surroundings. The house itself is situated within low trees and shrubs, with fantastic views of the mountains. The colours during sunrise and sunset are impressive. Within the private reserve are paved "roads", unpaved paths, and a couple of dams, of which the animals come to drink. What's a better way to watch the sun go down, than to take a bottle of wine and a couple of lawn chairs and watch animals such giraffes, zebra, impala, come to drink at the dam. Images we soon won't forget. The house itself has everything and runs off solar panels and batteries with the exception of the air conditioning/ heat pump which runs off electricity. Very Eco-friendly. No need to worry about usage, you wouldn't never know the difference, that even big appliances are solar powered. This includes the fridge, washing machine, dishwasher, TV, all small appliances, etc. All appliances are high end and new. Annette & Ed have thought of everything. There's even an herb garden. The pool and outdoor lounge area are inviting, with animals walking right by without a care. There is a built-in braai which we took advantage of, with comfortable seating as well as an outdoor dining table. Just sit back and relax. Any supplies you need are just minutes away, in the town of Hoedspruit, and if it's a night out on the town you're looking for, Annette has a list of restaurant available. The house is very comfortable and beautiful. Annette and Ed have made this house a home. Do stay here if you get the chance. You won't be disappointed.
